Amy Mayes

Amy was originally on course to become a classical singer but strayed from this path when she heard (at the age of sixteen) Janis Joplin singing 'Take Another Piece Of My Heart', the rawness of the vocals and how they were portrayed, spoke a story and one that Amy has aspired to ever since....

After graduating from the prestigious Leeds College of Music in 1999, studying under the well known UK Jazz Vocalist, Tina May and singing in the Duke Ellington Repertoire Orchestra, under the direction of the great Tony Falkner (drummer for Tubby Hayes), Amy listened, learned and honed what was to become her distinct sound.

The sound Amy has created could be called unfashionably old school but her love of the greats from a wide variety of genres, Bessie Smith, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Susan Tedeschi, Bonnie Raitt, Janis Joplin, BB King, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Martha Reeves, Gladys Knights to name but a few have certainly helped create Amy’s unique, deeply soulful and meaningful way of singing and relaying a song, (cover or original) like no other.... It is with this true heartfelt emotion Amy has been able to encapsulate her audiences

Amy has recently been signed to WHM Music and has released her debut E.P called simply 'An Introduction'. Tracks feature the brilliant guitar virtuoso Robbie McIntosh, and Boogie Woogie pianist Ben Waters, plus her incredible band.

Gaz Brookfield

Gaz Brookfield is a solo acoustic musician based in Bristol.
Since winning Acoustic magazine's 2010 Singer Songwriter of the year, he has spent his time on the road, touring the UK and Europe. In this time he has shared the stage with the likes of The Levellers, New Model Army, Seth Lakeman, Frank Turner, The Wonder Stuff, Newton Faulkner and many more. Gaz remains the only unsigned solo artist to sell out The Fleece, Bristol. A feat he has now achieved five times, the last three selling out over six months in advance.
This has made Gaz's annual Christmas shindig gig an unmissable tradition for his fans. In December 2017 Gaz took the decision to move up a venue size, to The Bierkeller, Bristol (750 cap.) and even this gig sold out 2 months in advance.
Often playing as many as 200 gigs a year, Gaz's relentless tour schedule takes him to every corner of the country and beyond. Upon the release of his latest studio album "I Know My Place", the subsequent tour sold out at nearly every venue, across the country.
A festival favourite, Gaz has played at over a hundred UK music festivals in the last few years, including Glastonbury, Beautiful Days, Bearded Theory, Boomtown and many more.
All of this has proudly been achieved without the aid of a manager, an agent, a record company or any press.
His latest studio album I Know My Place is out now, available on CD, limited edition 12" Vinyl and digitally from Bandcamp. All of Gaz's previous albums are available digitally on Bandcamp, iTunes, Amazon and many other digital outlets.

Long before the concept of Guilty Pleasures existed, there was only pleasure. Jess Upton & The Guilty Pleasures will take you to that place again.
The band members first met when rowing along the disco floor, line astern, to the strains of 'Oops Upside Your Head' in 1979. Later that same evening, they found themselves dancing around the same handbag.
That handbag belonged to Jess Upton and the rest is history – an unbreakable bond formed between Jess 'lip-gloss' Upton, Steve 'Starsky' Wilson, Sam 'Multicoloured Swap Shop' Ryall, Chris 'It's frothy, man' Page and Marco 'Rear of the year' Rossi. Your evening will most certainly be in safe and guilt-free hands.

Wessex Musical Theatre

Formerly known as WOS (Weymouth Operatic Society), the society decided on a new name to reflect its diverse range of musical performances. This year is also a timely reminder that the society was formed almost a century ago in September 1921. Productions were performed at the Weymouth Pavilion Theatre until 1935, when productions ceased due to financial problems. It was only after the second world war, in 1947, that the society resumed its performances after many fund raising endeavours. Throughout its history, Weymouth Operatic rehearsed at several venues throughout the town, including premises in Derby Street that it bought in the early nineties. Yet again, financial problems beset the society and the building was sold. Today, rehearsals take place in the beautiful setting of Hope Church in Trinity Street, Brewers Quay, the setting of the annual Christmas shows.

The group’s history may echo the experience of many musical societies throughout England but 2019 promises a new start and a new recognition for this bunch of talented and local performers. It just grows from strength to strength. Not only does Wessex Musical Theatre perform annual productions at the Pavilion but they also perform at weddings and local events and we are really excited to have them appear at Chesil Rocks this year!

Slipstream class themselves as a Popular Rock band playing songs people know and love from Led Zeppelin through to Muse.

Mick formed the band with Richard from their five-year association in the Weymouth based Slipped Disc which had gained some notoriety for being a high energy (if noisy) classic rock band.

Si (Front and Centre) has played in many cover bands over the tears and with an originals band in Liverpool’s Cavern. He also played in a New Zealand based metal band, the Deported. He's back!

Dan (Guitar and Stunts) studied music at ACM in Guilford and has played in bands such as The Chosen Ones, New Breed, Ocean Red and Marianas Trench covering all styles of playing and continues to be involved in many high profile recording projects.

Richard (Bass) has played all around Weymouth for the past 40 years with bands such as The Roger James Band, Topaz, The Woodland Brothers, Norfolk and Good and Sunrise.

Mick (Battery) played in bands such as Rue Morgue (with Lizzy’s Robbo), The Next Band (with Soft Machine bassist Roy Babbington), The Great Escape (with Gong’s Dave Sturt), B-Movie, Kabuki (with Jazzist Pete Downes) and others. Also many recording projects with Dave Gilmour’s producer
